Malay Wedding
Malaysia is a lucky country. Here, if you have multi race of friends than you can join their culture. Malaysia has three main races which are chinese, malay and indian. There are few more other races such as iban and khadazan.
In this blog i just wish to share the wedding of the sons of my malay adopted brother. We know each other for more than 25 years. He is very close to our family. Today is his happiest day because his two sons are getting married. Even tho we live in different culture but we know how to respect each other. He invited our fmily to attend his sons' wedding. So i took this apportunity to share his and his families happiness with u all.
Here comes the brides and grooms in malay words call 'raja sehari' a day king and queen. They are accompanied with their traditonal musical instrument call 'kompang' to make the enviroment merrier.
Before they enter through the entrance door, they get blessing from their parents like 'salam' shaking hand. After entering the entrance door decorated with flower, both the brides and grooms walk to the 'pentas pelamin' stage. There, they are blessed by using rice and water 'air mawar dan beras' by family members.
After blessing ceremony, they are served with food at their 'meja makan pelamin' special table decorated nicely.
Lastly they go round to greet the guest and the guest are given a present as souvenier.
