Gunung Lang, Ipoh, Perak

Gunung Lang is a nice and cooling attraction surrounded by greenery, limestone and caves. This man made recreation park nestled along the way from Ipoh  to KualaKangsar.  There is a monkey caves which you can see from the photo...

Haiiiiiiii Gunung Lang....

One of the Ipoh hidden attraction. Most of the Ipohites in the street if we tell them about Gunung Lang they  will blank  stare. The lack of signage and even entrance to the park has no proper signage. This recreation park nestled in the midst of limestone outcrops.

It is located just north of the city off Jalan Kuala Kangsar and easily accessible by road. It has lake surrounded by greenery, limestone, man made cascading waterfall (lighted up in few hour at night) can be seen from North South highway and also many plant species seldom seen elsewhere in the country.

It is a great location for limestone, hill and cave lover.  Inner lanadscaped park is accessible only by boat which takes about five minutes from jetty at the office building and it cost only RM3 for adult and RM1.50 for children and senior citizen for a areturn trip. It open from 8.00am till 7.00pm.

A broadwalk along the lake plenty of Heliconia and Bougainvillea bushes can be seen.

Kuala Gula, Perak

KUALA GULA
It is situated in Kerian district, Perak which is about an hour drive from Taiping town (north of Matang Forest Reserve). If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur using the North-South Highway, exit at Taiping Utara/Kamunting (Exit 148). Turn left at the traffic light heading towards Bagan Serai on the trunk road (Blue signboard) until you reach a traffic light junction at Taman Sri Semanggol with a police station on your left. You will be passing by a BHP petrol station on your left before you reach that traffic light junction (about 500m away). Take a left turn into Jalan Gula and following the signboard to Kuala Gula.

If you are coming down from Penang then you can exit from Jawi. Take a left turn into Jalan Gula and following the signboard to Kuala Gula. Turn left at the traffic light heading towards Bagan Serai. After passing by Bagan Serai town (a few kilometers drive), you will see a Kuala Gula signboard at the traffic light at Masjid Tinggi (with a green colour dom mosque on the right). Take a right turn and following the signboard to Kuala Gula.

Second option if you are coming from PENANG using the North-South Highway, exit at Bukit Merah (Exit 150). Turn left at the traffic light heading towards Simpang Empat. Turn right when you reach a T-junction and go straight until you reach a traffic light junction at Taman Sri Semanggong. Go straight towards Kuala Gula at the traffic light. Subsequently follow the signboards to Kuala Gula. Our first stop was at charcoal factory.

Santuary Resort at Kuala Gula

Kuala Gula encompasses a multitude of habitats including the buffer areas of a river and its tributaries, mangrove islands and mangrove coastal forests. It is an area of importance to fishing activities which has supported the livelihood of the local communities. The mudflat and the swampy areas of the Kuala Gula mangroves have been the place of stopover and feeding for various species of migratory and resident birds. Kuala Gula has been identified as one of the 10 eco-tourism areas in Perak State. Efforts towards the rehabilitation and protection of the mangroves have a significant socio-economic importance for the local area, the District of Krian, the State of Perak as well as to the country.


Today, it is estimated that a total of 7,188 people live in Kuala Gula and its proximity. The population is directly involved in the fishing industries through activities such as fish and prawn catching as well as cockles rearing. In addition, they are also involved in trickled-down fishing activities such as fish, dried shrimp and shrimp paste (belacan).

At Kuala Gula, there are few factories you can visit besides the charcoal factory such as salted egg factory.

How the salted eggs are being processed using the ashes from charcoal.

Here is the steps of mixing the creamy mixed mud and salt........
After the mixture is done :-
1) Separate eggs according to weight

2) Wipe the eggs

3) Dip the eggs in the creamy mixed mud and salt

4) put the salted mud eggs in the charcoal ash machine to cover it

5) After rolling out from the ash machine and packed it

6) keep it until 25 days then only can be cooked and consumed.

The City Of Digital Lights





Everyone likes impressive and striking colourful lightings.

City of Digital Lights is a technology park located outskirts of Shah Alam. At night the place comes alive with an amazing forest of man made trees brightly illuminated with millions of colourful LED lights. Obviously the digital lights only come on after dark. So, at 7pm daily, you would be speechless at how the whole place is being transformed into a magical fairy wonderland!!!

For those who want to experience digital lighting, there is no entrance fee. However, you need to pay for the entrance fee to some of the attractions at i-City.

 


There are plenty of attractions at i-City such as :- giant wheel, spacewalk ride,  super swing, double decker,  bumper cars, pirate ship,  circus travel, happy  train,  castle mania, mini bee spinner,  6D motion theater,  water world and snow house.

Aha... Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day is just around the corner.  Look up for some promotions at i-City as listed on the flyer....

Come and experience a winter wonderland in Malaysia at i-City at 5 degrees temperatures. LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA

How To Go And What To Do At Langkawi

 

If you plan to go to Langkawi, you have two options; either by air or by sea. 
By air is definitely a better choice.
How about by mainland? You can easily take a ferry from Kuala Kedah Jetty and the fare for one way is only RM18.00. It takes about 1 1/2 hour to reach Langkawi.

You can also take a ferry from Penang, Georgetown. It takes about 3 hours to reach Langkawi.

It is advisable to bring along your passport if you intend to go up to Thailand like Satun or Koh Lipeh Island. They are small islands situated closed to Langkawi and located in the Southern Thailand, part of Thai Andaman Sea. You can go from Jetty Point in Kuah. It takes about an hour travel.

At Langkawi Island, there are many attractive places that might interest you :-

i) Pulau Payar Marine Park for snorkeling and scuba diving

ii) Yacht cruises / Buffet Sunset cruises 
Quite costly.

iii) Geopark / Mangrove Tour and Island hopping 
Get a cheaper price from the Jetty Point at Kuah tickets booth. Try to get a good bargain and not to go thru' any agent.

iv) Island Tour 
You can rent a motorbike if you travel in two persons. Rent a mini car for four persons. Get it from Jetty Point in Kuah . Try not to rent from agents or any restaurant people. It is very easy using the map or ask around. The people there are quiet friendly and they are most happy to show you the way.

v) Cable Car / Curved Suspension Bridge or Amphibious Tour (Ducks Tour) 
They are all located at the Oriental Village.

It is a spectacular view especially from the top of the mountain when you are travelling in a cable car.

Be prepared to be disappointed if you want to experience walking along the CURVED SUSPENSION BRIDGE. Why???? This bridge is always closed to public and reasons given is - maintenance!

I was there few times during these few years but sadly to say that I have yet to take (or should I say, no luck) a walk at the much talked about Curved Suspension Bridge! Reason given was MAINTENANCE again!!!

Anyway be patient for the beautiful sunset at the peak of the mountain. You would not be disappointed!

vi) Time to pamper yourself 
If you want something amazing, inspiring and outstanding, try to dine at THE CLIFF RESTAURANT at Pantai Cenang beach. You can see stunning beautiful sunset with great cuisines and many more amazing things for you to experience.

Well, Langkawi is one of the many beautiful islands in Malaysia. I myself have been there numerous times and yet never get bored of it! Just love Langkawi!!! :)
