Shanghai

SHANGHAI

After 2 hours of drive from Wuxi,  we arrived at Shanghai. The buildings at Shanghai all have different design. When we arrive at Shanghai city we can feel the different environment and feeling.
At Suzhou and Wuxi is more greener.
Shanghai is the most influential city in China, with life amongst bright lights from towering skycrapers, fashionable folks strolling along the scenic bank of The Bund.

Now the tallest building in China, the 632m Shanghai Tower after Burj Khalifa, Dubai is now officially open. Is also the first high-rise tower to have cloud computing data centre which can accommodate 15,000-20,000 people

All Buildings

City God Temple of Shanghai 城隍庙商业区

"People Mountain People Sea"

We tried the crab meat soup 蟹肉汤,  xiao long bao 小笼包.
The most famous Shanghai dish, sip the broth and dip the meat in dark vinegar.

Lets Try More Flavour like Old friend Rice Noodle, Sour pickles or Sticky rice rolls
Yummy.........

Shanghai does have hop-on and hop-off bus right in front of the city god temple. Pretty interesting huh?

Our lunch at Shanghai...

Nanjing Road 南京路步行街

After lunch, we went to Nanjing Road 南京路步行街. This is the most vibrant shopping districts and longest  shopping street at Shanghai, selling all famous brands including Apple, H&M etc..
A true shopping paradise!!and a must see for fashion shopper and tourist. The 6km long street is constantly buzzing with excitement all day  and when night falls the vibrant lights from the stores and restaurants brighten up the street brilliantly.....

I want to be a MODEL hahaha.

This is the 1.5km tunnel that connects Pudong 浦东 and Puxi 浦西. The tour guide told us that Shanghai is divided into Pudong and Puxi by Huangpu River 黄浦江. Hence, we can see that Puxi is much older Shanghai whereas Pudong is the newer Shanghai.

天脉玉器

We visited one of the jewellery shop 天脉玉器 before checking out the night view. Too bad we got cheated. Here's the story:
When we reached, we were been seated in a room. Then suddenly one of the sales girl told us coz other senior salesperson are too busy, we were entertained by the "daughter" of the company. The daughter pretended to be bad at presentation, and used her tears to get our mercy to buy the jewellery. She told us it is her first sales presentation and she had been only at "CEO" for 4 days. Therefore she needed to successfully close a deal to prove her ability. Being swayed by her tears and continuous persuasion, we failed to resist and hence bought the jewelleries. She told us that she treated us as true friend that is truly understanding and said will keep in touch with us. However till today she didn't get back to us despite already have our phone number. We should have realised it is a CON and insisted not buying anything. Too bad we failed. We hope our experience will be a lesson to other people who are going to china. Trust your instinct and never get persuaded easily!!!
(The lady in pink is the so called "daughter" of the company)

The Bund / Waitan 外滩

At night, we went to 外滩 to see the Shanghai night view.
At Monument to the People's Hero 上海市人民英雄纪念塔..

At The Bund...the symbol of Shanghai's colourful past and triving  future. Across this 1.5km long waterfront on the bank of Huangpu River is and outstanding skyline of Shanghai's skycrapers including the famous Oriental Pearl Tower.

I am cool, can hide behind you?

Can you find the full moon?

The view along Zhongshan Road (East-1) 中山东一路. All the main banks are located along this road facing the bund.

The next morning, we are lucky to be able to spot the sunrise!

Shanghai bridges are all very impressive. The most impressive is the Nanpu bridge. It is long windy loop up to 3 levels high. We were in total awe when travelling up the bridge. (image from google)

SO IMPRESS
Wonderful experience

Another famous bridge we passed next morning is Dongpu bridge.

We still can't finish our tour at Shanghai for one night stay. When we reach Shanghai already half day gone. So second day we have to rush down to Hangzhou for our last destination for Jiangnan tour. During our journey we stop by Fengjing. So if possible plan a longer holiday trip.

Wuxi, China

WUXI

Lihu Lake 蠡湖公园
After lunch at Suzhou we drove to Wuxi 无锡. Our first stop is Lihu Lake 蠡湖公园.

This lake is so spacious and windy that people love playing kites here.

Taihu Pearl Shop 太湖珍珠馆

After that, we went to Taihu Pearl Shop 太湖珍珠馆 to see how pearls are extracted. As those pearls at  Taihu 太湖 are rare by human, they are usually many pearls in one shell and are less valuable. They are usually uneven in size and used to make pearl powder or cosmetic, rather than jewellery.

Three Kingdoms City 三国城

After that, we headed to Three Kingdoms City 三国城, this is the place where the show "Romance of the Three Kingdom" 三国演义 is shot.

As the area is too big, they provide shuttle bus to drive the tourists around...

Watching the fighting scene of 三英战吕布.

And then took the warship to tour around Taihu.

At night, we can see many buildings are lit up by fluorescent light design at its facade. This makes the building recognizable from far and create an amazing city skyline.

Our dinner for the night....

I want these cars...

Night, we stayed at 4 star Days Inn and Suites 福特戴斯.

The breakfast is considered awesome compared to other hotel breakfast.

At Wuxi we do stop for a night and proceed on to Shanghai
